When purchasing a puppy from a responsible breeder affiliated with the Federación Canófila de Puerto Rico, the puppy will already be registered in the FCPR Stud Book. The breeder must provide you with your dog’s Registration Certificate, which must then be transferred into your name.
Ownership Transfers
- The breeder must complete and sign Section A on the reverse side of the Registration Certificate.
- The new owner must complete and sign Section B on the reverse side of the Registration Certificate.
Transfer Fee: $40.00
It is extremely important that both the breeder and the new owner sign the document in order for the transfer to be processed.
Name Change
Although your dog is already registered with an official name, the name may be changed on one occasion only.
Name Change Fee: $50.00

Please send the original documents to the FCPR Registration Office.
It is recommended that you keep photocopies of all submitted documents. The FCPR is not responsible for documents lost in the mail.
Please include the appropriate payment along with your documents. The FCPR accepts checks, money orders, Visa, and MasterCard.
